The School of Public Administration (SPA) of Guizhou University offers public administration, sociology and political science as its three first-level disciplines that are taught in the five departments: public administration, labor and social security, land management, political science and sociology. Undergraduate programs include Administrative Management, public utility management, labor and social security, urban administration, land resource management, political and administration and social work . SPA also offers public administration as a first-level master鈥檚 degree program and 7 second-level master鈥檚 degree programs including administrative management, social security, education economics and management, land resource management, political theories, sociology and demography. Two professional master programs -- MPA and MSW -- are also available at SPA.
The faculty of SPA consists of 75 people, 68 of whom teach undergraduate or graduate courses. All but only a few have either doctorates or master鈥檚 degrees. SPA鈥檚 student body includes 670 graduate students, 963 undergraduate students and 5 international students. It has established partnership with a number of domestic and international higher learning institutions, government institutions at different level and businesses. Each year, over 30 SPA students are sent to Zhejiang University, National University of Kaohsiung (Taiwan) for exchange or degree programs.
As a very new school of Guizhou University, SPA has been growing rapidly in the past three years. It has been granted over 20 funds by China鈥檚 National Natural Science Foundation and National Social Science Foundation, five other funds by Ministry of Education, over 20 funds at the provincial level and 40 other funds sponsored by businesses. Some of those projects have helped SPA to win several academic prizes.
Graduates of SPA become professionals in various levels of government institutions and businesses. Despite of its short history, SPA has become an important base for future leaders in public management and social science.
