The College
of Computer Science and Technology of Guizhou
University now has 2 officially authorized departments
to confer Master s Degree (Computer Application
) and 1 to confer Doctor s
Degree (Computer Software and Theory). There are also MSc
Programs for Software Engineering and Computer
Application. There is in addition a Provincial
Key Lab (micro-nano technology and micro-nano
system), a Provincial Key Programs (Computer Science
and Technology), 3 labs of elementary knowledge and
basic skills (Computer Software and Application,
Electronic Technology, and Communication Engineering)
and 2 specialized labs (Information and Communication
Engineering, Applied Computer Technology). It
has 2 research institutes (Institute of Applied
Computer Technology and Institute of Computer
Networking), a training center (Computer Training
Center), and 2 undergraduate programs (Computer
Science and Technology, and Software Engineering),
Of the current 157 staff members,
there are 122 professional teachers, 35 of whom
are full professor or associate professors. The
overall enrollment is 2000, including 1132 undergraduates,
over 454 post-graduates, and some adult students.
So far, there have been more than 7500 students
who have graduated from the college and are working
in all walks of life; some have gone abroad, and
some have become academic leaders. All of them
have made great contribution to the economic and
social development of our country.
The college enjoys advantages in such fields as
mathematical logic, database technology, artificial
intelligence, optimization theory, microelectronic
technology, superconducting electronics, and high-frequency
and broad-band integrated circuit. The programs
such as computer science and technology, electronic
information engineering and communication engineering
have developed in line with the development of
high and new technology. Thus there have formed
some groups with combined disciplines on information
and electronics -- the advantage and specialty
of the College.
The college is devoted to
scientific and technological development. It has
undertaken in succession some research programs
at the national, ministerial and provincial levels.
Faculty research has been published in many scholarly
monographs, textbooks and papers. Some programs
have been awarded the first, second or third prize
for Scientific and Technological Progress at the
State, Ministerial or Provincial Level. The college
has attached great importance to academic exchanges
and established academic relations with Tsinghua
University, Beijing University, Zhejiang University,
Chongqing University, Nanjing University, Chinese
Academy of Sciences, and some institutions in
foreign countries and regions.
