The College of Resource and Environment
Engineering of Guizhou University offers 9 undergraduate
programs or orientations and 5 MSc programs (Mineralogy,
Petrology, Gitology, Paleontology and Stratigraphy,
Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering
and Environmental Engineering). The College also
accepts students independently for doctorate study
in mineralogy, petrology and gitology.
The College presently has 78 faculty
members, with 14 professors and 19 associate professors
-- a qualified teaching staff with rational structure.
There are three provincial key specialties (mineralogy,
petrology and gitology) and a key specialty at
university level (geological engineering) and
a national education base for popularization of
geoscience.
In the past three years, the college
has undertaken more than 160 research projects
(including 5 Natural Science Fund Projects) with
the total research funds being over 13 million
RMB. Three projects were awarded the Second Prize
and two projects the Third Prize for Scientific
and Technological Progress at the Provincial Level.
There have been over 300 research papers published
(more than 30 included in SCI and EI) and 7 academic
treatises.
Focusing on engineering, the
College also puts stress on science. It has strength
both in teaching and research.
